Mary Koval and her daughter Chris hostessed the Party as usual and it was touching how much care they took with the decorations and set up. These conscientious Ladies sew their own table cloths specially for every occasion. Last month they decorated with a Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day theme and this month it was Saint Patrick’s Day and Easter, with appropriately colored table cloths and decorations to match. It was very festive and certainly set the mood of joy and good cheer throughout our gathering. The food was varied and tasty, as everyone brought their most delicious dishes; including some fabulous desserts.
I enjoyed a lovely chinwag with Neighbor Bob Deloyd, who actually wrote this column for 11 years and is my immediate predecessor. He is a very talented writer, with a down-home in the Desert tone to his journalism. He gave me an autographed copy of his latest book: “Azure Sea of Dreams”, Poems, Inspirations and Meanderings of Robert Deloyd. It’s really a good read, full of thoughts and feelings Bob probably jotted down over the while and compiled into a book. I am enjoying the ride!
I also had a nice chat with Joseph Lechner who is in the same Copper Mountain College English Literature class as I am, with Professor Ellen Baird. His wife Brenda and I took an art class together a couple of semesters ago and they brought their three children along for the egg coloring. David King had much eggsperience, thanks to all his nieces and nephews. We had the regular bowls of dye, along with stickers and other art deco, but David provided the most original egg-dying method with a bowl full of shaving cream with different coloring in various spots. Great fun was had by all and good nutrition too!
