CMMCA supports road maintenance
VOTE YES to fund County Service Area (CSA) 70 R-19
Ballots will be mailed out MON MAY 11 and are due by SAT JUNE 6
WHAT is being proposed?
Our roads are covered by County Service Area 70 R-19 Copper Mountain, which was formed by property owners in 1986.
All property owners in CSA 70 R-19 currently pay annual $20 fee per parcel. This is the only source of funding to repair our roads.
There is a ballot proposal to increase this fee to $75 per parcel, subject to an annual inflation adjustment (up to 3% per year).
WHICH roads are in the district?
The boundaries of CSA 70 R-19 are:
Border Ave. to the west
Giant Rock Rd./Montezuma to the north
Shoshone Valley Rd. to the east
La Brisa Dr./Old Chisholm Trl. to the south
Some roads in this boundary are:
Winters
Poleline
Friendship
Lear
Coyote Valley (Sunfair Hill)
Sonora
Mt Shadow
La Brisa
Moonlight Mesa
Telford
Olson
WHY vote for the increase?
The fee has not been increased since CSA 70 R-19 was established 40 years ago.
When the district was created in 1986, funding was intended to cover both regular road maintenance and storm cleanup.
Today, the unchanged $20 fee barely pays for limited emergency grading after major storms; routine maintenance has become a thing of the past.
If the increase is not approved, service levels will continue to decline. County Public Works has indicated CSA 70 R-19 could ultimately be dissolved, leaving our community with no dedicated funding for road repair or maintenance whatsoever.
